Jason Garcia’s paintings construct and explore a diffusion of color within relationships of symbols highlighted by integrating an embedded repetition of patterned motifs. Working with a fluctuating, yet familiar visual language, Garcia’s paintings consist of multiple layers that tell stories of botanical, zoological, mechanical and invisible dynamic worlds. The paintings remain open to definitive interpretations that challenge and validate the viewer’s culturally established perspectives and beliefs.
Garcia’s art has raised over 30,000 pounds of food for Pine Ridge Indian Reservation and local food banks through The Conscious Alliance Food Drives, paid for six teachers salaries in musical programs in Gujarat, India through Ahimsa Benefits, raised awareness and cultural education via The Smithsonian Sikh Gallery and Sikh Heritage Foundation, enriched the lives of inner city youth through mural programs at Precita Eyes Mural Arts Center of San Francisco, raised funding for the research of psychotropic medicine by MAPS, been used for banners in Rainforest Action Network activist demonstrations and contributed towards the building of a music and creative writing school in Gululetu, South Africa through a Playing For Change Benefit.
